Normally, a female werewolf can't shift into her wolf form until she meets her mate and completes the bond. On a rare occasion a female shifts at the young age of two and can't shift back until she finds her mate. There's more to it. She only has a week to complete the bond in human form, in love or not. At least that's usually what has to occur. 

In this case it happens to Jaidis. Not only does she get stuck as a wolf, her parents are murdered, her pack kicks her out and she's left to fend for herself. Though there's a twist that changes everything.
