Nixie

Maya hates being poor. She's sick of thrift store clothes and cramped living spaces. Sick of classmate taunts and whispered insults.
The day her parents find a well paying job is one of the happiest days of Maya's life. Suddenly, a fresh life is promised- one where her parents have enough money to buy real clothes and abandon food drives forever.
But when Maya's parents mysteriously disappear, she has to go on a quest to find them, discovering the biggest secret that they had been keeping from her all those years. She plunges underwater only to find that she can breathe just fine. She can walk and speak like normal.
