Alice grew up without her father. He didn't want anything to do with her. She grew up with her mother for the first sixteen years of her life.
When Alice's mother dies, she is forced into the care of her father. They don't get on too well but Alice learns to put up with him.
To make matters worse, an enemy of her father shows up and targets Alice.
