It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution. The truth is rarely pure and never simple.
The power of truth can be known from the fact that nobody, not even the greatest liar in the world, has the courage to say that he is telling a lie or that truth is not good.
The truth is always a compound of two half-truths, and you never reach it, because there is always something more to say.
So many things I can say to define the word but if I go with the definitions I have always read on books then my answer will be a lie, a big lie.
