Based on the FICTIONAL place called the McCaffrey Islands, this story is a mixture of historical fiction and adventure. Lavender James, a spirited schoolgirl who lives with her mother in London, is whisked away to stay with her father for the summer in the first signs of World War Two. This story follows her adventures on one of the islands. Everything is very different from what she has known, and when tragedy strikes, how far will Lavender go to find closure?

Things don't look great for her, especially when the Arachne proclaims that he plans to use her as bait, but as past memories from her childhood rear up from the back of her mind, Wren soon comes to realize that this Arachne has other plans for her.
