In 2036 the population of the world counted at least 17 billion people. So the government made a huge mistake by inserting a deadly virus inside robots and spread these amongst the people. But soon after that, the robots turned against the humans and the virus didn't only kill them but brought them back to life as lifeless, murderous corpses. Every human above the age of 25 was immediately targeted. Few have survived. The ones who did, live in a world of fear and chaos.

The Sisterdale Six: A Bag Men Story de JulianTraas
1 parte Concluida Contenido adulto
40 years ago, the world as we know it was destroyed by hordes of the undead. But the threat isn't gone. It has evolved. In the year 2027, the American Government buckled under the weight of millions of undead, whose inexorable push Westward drove away and killed every living thing until only nothingness was left. Many years later, most of the survivors (and their descendants) believe that the infected have been wiped off the face of the Earth. They are mistaken. What the scientists and researchers of the Republic of Sacramento eventually came to understand was that the virus had not been eradicated. Instead, it had changed, become something much worse. Its new form, the Vox Humana Virus, is so called because of its distinct evolutionary advantages over its predecessor: rather than kill the host, VHV in a sense disables the host-body's linkup with the brain, rendering it a puppet in service to the parasite. Because these new "Sleepers" do not shamble or groan or bear any characteristics that would easily distinguish them from a normal human being, they can now infect entire populations before anyone even knows they have arrived. Sacramento's response to this new threat was the institution of the Bureau of Public Health, an innocuously named super-agency whose staff are granted authority above and beyond any other citizen. The Agents, colloquially known as "Bag Men," are the gatekeepers, it is they who identify and exterminate Sleepers. Into this mess Troy Myers will step, one day. However, in 2040, he finds himself in the badlands bordering the cities of the new Tri-Texan Confederacy, looking for something, maybe a place to call home. Maybe, inside all this death, there will be a chance for peace. In the meantime, the kill count racks up and up. If Troy wants to live, he'll have to pay for his time with bullets. The Bag Men series is written by Silas Jackson and J.R. Traas. Find us: https://www.facebook.com/SACBPH https://twitter.com/wordofmypeople

Back by popular request! The 2017 rough draft of The Virus Within! (Caution: Contains massive plotholes that were fixed in the polished The Virus Within Series. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. This book has a slightly darker outlook at the beginning than my usual stories, but it has some humor further along. Definitely not a horror story, although it has its share of action. 4 updates a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday! Copyright April 2017. All Rights Reserved. **This is a spin-off of my book Zero. Some of the characters will be the same, but this book can be read as a stand alone.** Everyone has made mistakes before, but not everyone has made mistakes that induce the zombie apocalypse. Ella Fairchild is one of unlucky few who can say she's made such a mistake. She didn't know what she was doing. She thought she was doing good for the world. She was wrong. But to her, none of that matters. As the last living person who contributed to the creation of H-26, more commonly known as the zombie virus, Ella shoulders the weight of the world for her mistakes. Nearly a year after the outbreak, Ella has a chance to try to right her wrongs. She hasn't been outside the walls of the safe establishment since the virus spread. Now, inexperienced, weak, and scared out of her mind, she'll do whatever it takes for a chance at stopping the virus. But she's not foolish, Ella knows she can't do this alone. Kyle Russell is a certified bad ass, an ex-Army Ranger come out of retirement to save the world from zombies. He's sinfully good looking, a little rough around the edges, and doesn't sugarcoat anything, but he's the guy you want on your team. He and his team of runners haven't failed a mission yet. Amongst their own, and even civilians, they're rock stars. They're the people who give everyone hope that a war against zombies that can be won. They're the exact opposite of Ella. They're the best, and if Ella is going to succeed, she needs the best. **This is a spin-off of Zero and will feature some of the same characters. However, it can be read as a standalone.

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. [COMPLETED] •Being revised... AGAIN (Progress: Intro-Chap. 3)• "We're going back... Understand? There are more threats out here than we anticipated, and they're all after you-" Lukas' voice erupted into static and chunks... I glared at the man in all black as the light continued to beam and blind me. Without my glasses it was actually painful. And then there was silence. 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. Life is always a battle, but for the time being, I feel like I'm fighting a war, and every move I make could put my life in jeopardy. In times like these, I don't know where to run; a spot where I used to dwell peacefully has turned into a field where no one can escape alive. I don't know how to continue, with a virus spreading and dead bodies lurking, killing, and biting every new living species. Is this where my life would end? In their hands, will they kill me? I still don't want to, so I'll fight and figure out what to do about it. Millioshi Grimes would rather die fighting than let them taste my blood.
