Eighth grader Piko Utatane is the biggest outcast known to the entire school. He's doing terrible in every single class except Music, has no real people to call "friends", and it doesn't help that none of the students are Vocaloids. Well, he thought so, anyway.

When Piko switches into chorus class and walks through the door, he sees a small circle of probably the weirdest group of kids ever seen. A ridiculously shy girl named Rune, a pair of overzealous twins known as Me and Aw, two close friends Ring and Lui, and a tall, modern, chic young lady known as Akikoloid.

What do these seven kids have in common?
