This was not going to be the first time that I would face such a situation. During a low expansion space trip, about four years ago, I sailed smoothly through the H14 Space-Time Singularity with the original plan of emerging at the T22 quadrant - almost at the limit of its lower end. During the first half of the journey the systems changed to the conventional mode without any notice. With no other option, I finally emerged among a cluster of planets and other astronomical bodies of the second order and, without any criteria of choosing, I landed in the manual mode on the planet that seemed closer to me.All Rights Reserved

While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.

She however knows an earthly being like her would never survive there. As Jan reveals himself as the Prime Advisor of the planet, ruthless about everything but the survival of the planet and its people, he chains her literally to his side.
