Elliot is independent. Not because she chooses to, but because she has to be. Her mother is hardly ever home, and when she is, it's like she isn't. Their communication barrier is something Elliot has always brushed off as normal. After all, it has always been like that. Even when she hits rock bottom her mother is not there for her. Elliot is fighting for tomorrow while her mom spends all her time traveling the world on business trips. Then Elliot meets Theodore. He changes her world, and they find themselves being drawn to one another, despite their differences. Can Theodore stay even when his personally changes faster than anyone can keep up with?
