The Test
Going through my pictures, I went to the one that I had just taken, and the phone slowly slipped out of my grasp. What had escaped my notice before is that the couch I had taken the picture on was against a window, which showed the backyard of the house. But in this picture, it wasn't an empty backyard. No, behind my smiling face was another one, outside the window. It was his face. When I witnessed my best friend being murdered, I did all that I knew how to do, and I called the cops. They captured the murderer and put him in prison, and for a while, I felt safe. I had the cops on my side and just enough strength left in me to try to get my life back in order. But of course, as the story goes, that illusion of 'safety' was short-handed. "Who are you?" I asked, still left in the shock and scared state that came over me when gunshots were heard.
