The Year My Life Went Haywire

Desiree Whitney has always had a rough life. Her single mother has worked as a waitress ever since she can remember just trying to make ends meet, and she's been living in shabby apartments for years. When her mother suddenly passes away, Desiree is sent to live with her very rich grandmother, who disowned her mother when she got pregnant with Desiree at seventeen. Now, Desiree is being sent off to boarding school for most of the year. Will this be yet another disappointment in her life? Or can Desiree make friends and learn that sometimes life has a way of working out in weird ways?
