His parents and 3 younger siblings moved while he was at school, and when he arrived at their apartment after school he found a note taped to the outside of the door to him, explaining what happened, but not where they went, and that he was on his own. The landlord informed him that he had to leave because his parents didn't pay for another month there, so he's on his own. He lives at a men's shelter for a couple of weeks when he accidentally meets Everest Miller one day while Kai was out trying to find a job. Everest Miller - 21, bi, a full human, lives with his 2 mom's, Olivia and Holly, works at a cafe that his mom owns, meets Kai when he comes to the cafe looking for a job, and looks a little rough. Olivia and Holly hire Kai, along with giving him a place to stay with them in the small guest house in the back of their cafe. Adopted by Holly and Olivia, and has no desire to know who his biological parents are.
