Cicily Gardener's mother walked out on her family when she was just three years old. From then on her dad has been distant and she has been the caretaker of her younger sister, Lailah. During a school fire, Lailah gets kidnapped and Cicily gets taken to a special camp for people with powers like her.

When Cicily has to go on a quest with people she barely knows, she discovers things about herself, and learns what it means to go to all lengths to rescue someone you love.
