At age 5 Vanessa watched as her parents decayed into insanity, at age 6 she was taken from her sister by WICKED, at age 7 she was forced to give up her name, after that, her life was a series of tests. She had offers to do 'incredible' things, but refused them, choosing friendship over a possible cure. In the long run, it's questioned if she made the right choice. Friendships and loyalties are made and tested, what'll happen to the ones who don't fully trust their captors?

This is the story of a boy, a boy named Newt. A boy originally from the British Isles, plunged on a journey across the Atlantic and into the hands of WICKED, an organisation with only one purpose - to save humanity. --- This book is completed, but beware, it's not fully edited (not even the edited chapters tbh). I wrote it quite a long time ago, and I might rewrite it at some point, but for now it is complete. Just saying :) --- I don't own most of the characters, or WICKED, or anything from the original book/movie. This is my version of Newt's backstory, in which he's originally called James. Her parents suspect danger is near while Y/n is home so they decide she should find uncle Jorge for more safety. On her way she crosses paths with the Gladers who have just escaped WCKD on the lookout for the right army. A tall British blond boy finds an interest in her and plans on sticking by helping her heal. Will the Gladers be her ticket to finally living a free life? Will she find her brother alive?
