The Year 1962; the first Beatles single is released, Marilyn Monroe is found dead and the Cuban Missile Crisis drives the country into terror. It was also the year an unforgettable summer was lived.
Tomboy; Rayne Smalls, has always stood out from the crowd, refusing to change herself to fit into society's norms, especially when it comes to being a teenage girl.
After her mother abandoned with her stoic father, Rayne has felt nothing but misunderstood and numb. To top that off, leaving all that you know behind to move to a new state only makes things more challenging.
One day, she and her step-brother Scotty, stumble upon the Sandlot. Where they meet Benny, a humble boy who immediately takes an interest in the two siblings.
Rayne eventually learns to understand the true meaning of friendship, forgiveness, joy and even love as family, amazing friends, a kind boy and a game of baseball can fix even the most loneliest hearts.
