Emma is young woman who probably wouldn't survive in this world alone,  at least not as long as Rick's group has. The things they've done & the things that they are willing to do, make her an unlikely person to survive what they've been through. So when Emma is introduced to the bad side of Daryl before she meets the good side of him, it would take a little effort to find love. 
  
  If Daryl was satisfied with the assumptions he made the first few times he saw Emma, he wouldn't like her one bit. She dressed like one of those preppy girl's in a Ralph Lauren ad, she spoke like she went to an all girls school & as a survivalist she was hopeless.  But he had to look past what he saw so he could find out about who he was listening to when she spoke. Daryl had to understand with his mind  so he could love with his heart. 
  
  Emma had to see Daryl differently too. She had to move past his sandpaper like personality & the smell of the outdoors on his clothes. His raspy voice, poor grammar & his southern twang wasn't  what she thought she'd get used to, let alone be attracted to.
  
  The both of them would have to be blind in order to fall for each other.
