In the jazz filled roaring times filled with crime and excitement lies the bustling place known as Steam City. By day, the city remains a beacon of prosperity and success. However that is only because the light forces all forms of rancidity and unpleasantness into the shadows. At night, the real party begins..literally. The smell of liquor drenches the streets and alleyways causing everyone to be plunged into a stupor. Any money that lands into the hands of the partygoers or any other creep is done away with each night and the income found during the day is only sufficient enough to survive the night. Aside from the people with real jobs and careers that didn't involve factory working for cheap income, most people sought to one place outside the city for a glimpse of prosperity. Steam City lies in an arid desert miles away from any ocean. The one place outside of the city that people would even dare to venture to was known simply as the Reprieve, a mine where if you work hard enough and wish hard enough, you might find a bit of gold or a small diamond. However, a certain sect of frequent miners stumble upon something else on the Reprieve. Something that could change Steam City permanently.

𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙄𝙄𝙄 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 The bad news: Phoenix has turned into gold. The good news: so have their enemies. It's also possible that apart from their group of three, so have the rest of the human kind. Meanwhile, in the cottage, life more or less goes on. As Najwa mourns both her mom and the loss of her closest friend, Rain can't tear his gaze away from the golden remnants of their enemies and Rio does their best to keep everyone fed and healthy. Aspen isn't much help, not when he is holed up in his room, terrified of the power he holds. It's been said that you only realize the importance of someone when they're gone. Whether or not that is true, Aspen would give his life to get Phoenix back. There's guilt, undoubtedly, but also the fact that he has a huge crush on him. They have never even had the chance to kiss or confess their feelings, and that's just tragic. But hey, there's always a chance for a long-distance relationship. As you might imagine, the connection from one world to another isn't ideal. But if they can make it work, there's a chance to return Phoenix and the rest of the infected back to life.
