My personal response, as a progressive and a sexual assault survivor, to the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. When their mom is suddenly called in to work, 8-year-old Laylah is left in charge of her brother, Reese, who bitterly resents her acting like she's smarter than he is and telling him what to do. He flees from their trailer park into the fancy subdivision next door, where he is "befriended" by a manipulative bully. May be triggering to rape/assault/abuse survivors (but probably not more so than the election itself).
