When a person comes of age, they are linked with another person in the world that can hear what they say and feel what they feel. However, when Marissa finally hits puberty, she's shocked to discover she's a GenBen. Someone with an opposite gender for a duplicate. While she sees no problem with it, the rare occurrence makes her and her duplicate Jake, freaks amongst their peers.
Ridiculed where ever she goes, Marissa is left broken and blistered. So when running away seems like the only solution, she says goodbye to everything she's ever known and hits the road.
