It was all over that day when he watched her go. Watched the tears form in her eyes as she looked at him hopefully. Looked at him for the last time.
Now, five years later, Ash has completed his Pokemon journey. He's now the Champion of the Kanto region. Yet, even when he knows that he's accomplished so much, he feels like the only thing he's accomplished is letting her slip away from him.
Serena never forgot that look in his eyes as he stood there, staring after her. That look of helplessness, surprise, and a million another things she didn't know how to name. She's the Kalos Queen now, after five tedious years. Even as she stands on top of the Pokemon Showcase world, she can't help but feel trapped in the words she never got to say.
A chance encounter in Anistar City brings two fates colliding together, and reignites a flame that perhaps was never meant to be.
