Louisa Karrington is going into her last 10-241 test and is hoping to pass and finally be free from the awful system to downsize the population. She is mourning the loss of her best friend, Ellie Harper, and is also dealing with her feelings for the aforementioned friend's boyfriend, Blake Redding. She studied hard with her friend, Laina, to ensure her safety from the last Thinning they must endure, but things take a turn when the results are read out.
