"You've heard the tale of the Dread Wolf, da'len? It is time you learned the whole story."

Tales of the gods had followed Avery throughout her entire life with the Dalish. But even so, she never fully believed the tales, always felt that there was something the tales left out. So when the last thing that kept her there was gone, she left her clan in search of more

Little did she know that the path she would walk would lead her straight into the claws of the Wolf.

A/N I do not own Dragon Age Inquisition (sadly) or any of the characters except Avery and The Herald and except if stated otherwise, all artworks used do not belong to me.

Fair warning: I do plan to end this book in a tragedy, so read at own risk. But even so there will still be a lot of sweet and happy parts mixed into the sadness.

What happens when a wolf-shifter somehow ends up in the world of the Dragon Age series, and falls head over heels for the devilishly handsome ex-Templar turned Military commander of the Inquisition? Trouble. Tala is a wolf-shifter, also sometimes called a werewolf, but most of the time she's your average tom-boy twenty-three year old woman who enjoys what most tom-boys do. She can deck a man full on in the face sending him running, she can outdrink most of the males in the pack, and she ain't afraid to get a little dirty when it comes to working hard on her grandfather's farm. But when fate throws a loop her way by sending her into the world of Thedas, her status of being an unmated she-wolf is called into question as she involuntarily starts falling head over heels for a man who should be her worst enemy. Cullen Stanton Rutherford is the commander of the Inquisition's forces, military advisor to the Herald turned Inquisitor, and a former Templar. So when Tala comes into Thedas via Rift, the last thing he expected to hear about was her being a wolf-shifter. Naturally being a former Templar, his training demands he slay her before she becomes a threat, but something else within him just won't allow him to harm her. But when Tala's death comes after the destruction of Haven, it is only by the intervention of the Maker that Tala returns to the living, but it comes with a price. Tala loses her wolf form and becomes an everyday normal human. Now struggling with being a pure human, Tala must come to terms with needing to rely on her new friends for help and finds that sometimes being an average human can lead to some pretty amazing experiences.

"Humour me." "But what about you? Don't you need luck too?" Lyric asked, protest forming a small crack in her voice. "I don't know what you'll face before the end," Cullen insisted, his face drawing nearer hers until their foreheads were touching. Her hand was palm-up in his, then, the dark leather of his glove and the moonlight's ivory flush making her fingers look impossibly pale. He placed the lucky coin there, closing her fist around it. "Just humour me." ---- Slow burn romance between Cullen and my femme Lavellan, Lyric. The story is mostly made up of moments between characters, skipping some of the action we are familiar with. Spans the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, base game only. - 18+ only - Disclaimers: - Content/trigger warnings for minor character injury, blood/gore, and sexual content. - This is a a slow burn, but it is a romance nonetheless. *Not* smut; there are also character pieces for my Inquisitor and some others that are not related to the romance, but it's all part of Lyric's story. - There are time jumps, and some slight canon divergence/original elements, but nothing that impacts the integrity of the story in a major way. - I have only played Inquisition and all associated expansions, but not the earlier games. - This is my interpretation of the story- I take some liberties with minor variations and some situations of my own. - My lore is not perfect, but I'm trying! Feel free to gently correct me if I get something wrong! - All art (including the cover) is my original art! - If you know me, no you don't.
