Shortly after the demise of the God-Emperor, Leto II, came the Famine Times--a period marked with strife and misery as the structure of his Imperium collapsed in the vacuum that he left behind and countless people throughout the known universe suffered the effects of immediate spice melange withdrawal. After nearly 4000 years of "imposed tranquility", that peace is shattered by an explosion of interplanetary wars, piracy and panicked migration towards the far reaches of the galaxy. With quickly dwindling stockpiles of the life-enhancing spice, the Bene Gesserit, Spacing Guild and remaining houses of the Landsraad are left in shambles and all desperate to maintain order and find a new source of the precious substance! It is within this tumultuous landscape that a seemingly insignificant exploratory vessel makes a discovery that will change the course of humankind forever...

It is the beginning of a new era after the death of the Emperor of the Known Galaxy, Paul "Mu'ad Dib" Atreides. The interstellar jihad has been diverted, the Bene Gesserit powers vanquished, and the Empire disbanded. Paul's widow Irulan strikes out on her own as the majority shareholder of the C.H.O.A.M. Company, and his former lover Chani returns to her sietch on Arrakis where she will continue to lead as its "Sayyadina" and take care of his and Irulan's young son, renamed Usul Leto. But not all are pleased with these changes to the galaxy. House Corrino wishes to reclaim the power and prestige that they believe Irulan hastily squandered. Paul's mother, the Lady Jessica, is tormented by loss and shame. Meanwhile, Irulan and Chani are doing their best to rebuild their worlds that were nearly destroyed by religious violence and heartbreak. These competing desires will collide in a dangerous manner. In the pursuit of power, when one side will do anything, all sides stand to lose everything. This is a stage-or-screenplay sequel to "Sayyadina of Dune." A touch more smut. A lot more violence. And a whole lot more backstabbing! Volume 1 of CANAISIS ∞ The Last Living Ship trilogy (Chronicles of Canaisis 1) Can a ship, born to sail the ocean of stars to ensure Humankind's survival, save her Captain from the void within his own heart? ∞ ∞ ∞ Canaisis is the last of her kind, a Living Ship forged with Mankind's most advanced technology and artificial intelligence. Together with her Captain, she sails the cold, dark void between stars at multiple times the speed of light-to ensure Humanity's survival. As Canaisis agrees to carry a corporation's entire personelle to their new colony planet, Captain Gareth Levant finds his solitude interrupted by a new culture and a woman whose Gift threatens to unlock the pain caged within his heart. A pain he's carried since before the day he first launched... centuries ago. As if that is not enough, something about Earth's Citizens sanctioning the corporation's relocation rings falsely with undertones that has Captain Levant on edge. He will do anything to keep his ship and passengers safe. Captain Levant loves his ship, as any good captain does since the beginning of time-whether with wind, sail and ocean waves as in the days of old, or in the vast depths of space. But if Canaisis were able to return that love, could it burn bright enough to light the way through the void within the Captain's own heart? Or does it require the Gift of human touch? ∞ ∞ ∞ By @kemorgan65 and @RavenRock2112 ∞ ∞ ∞ A prequel to the pre-story of #ShadowOfThePastTrilogy ∞ The Displaced. ∞ ∞ ∞ SEQUELS: Canaisis ∞ A Captain's Journey Canaisis ∞ A Shard Of Code ∞ ∞ ∞ REVIEW by @Ray_Of_Sunshine9 "...loved the overall themes within the story, and what it meant for me as a person - a mission of delivering hope and finding a new home. ... 18+ (Xenophile) Smut. Violence. Gore. Foul Language. The year is 3787, the Earth is in ruin, and the infectious spores plagues the world below. After many failed attempts to remove the spore infection and the intelligent lifeforms that brought it known as the Irinaut, several large ships were sent into space to save the human race, but some people remained. Those who stayed, either had no choice in the matter or were part of the expedition crews. The people who were looking for some sort of cure all. Some, scientists looking to communicate or even experiment on the Irinaut race. Though it wasn't only the infection they had to worry about. Infected Irinaut were aggressive, and finding one without the sickness at this point was seeming out of reach with no hopes of communicating. That is, until now. A group of soldiers had been left with a task of transporting precious cargo. After several facilities being attacked by the estranged Irinaut, a young soldier known as Raven, finds herself curious to why this Irinaut is so important in finding. The being wasn't like other's any of them had seen. They wanted to know how it was possible in the world that was nothing but desert, and infection. 0-Sa was also alone, which was unusual for the species. The Irinaut became valuable quite quickly, having found no spore infection visibly on him. The team had one job, obtain and return the creature alive, but they would soon come to find out that the cargo would be more difficult to transport then they thought.

Beginnings are such delicate, fragile times. Especially for Elaine, who is still fairly new to the Freman yet has found herself trapped in the role of being a Sayyadina. This role is not only connected to a prophecy she couldn't care less about, but It also means she can't fight alongside the Freman, which is a fate worse than death in her eyes. She starts sneaking out at night to protect her people from minor enemies, because if she can't fight alongside them in the day, then she'll protect them at night. However, one of these nights she doesn't meet an enemy, but rather Paul Atreides, and she finds herself re-evaluating her role among the Freman.
