Yuki is the princess of the Blue kingdom ruled by foxes. One night her mother is killed and she is forced to become pregnant with the child of the Red kingdoms ruler Ryuunosuke, so that he can have a powerful heir. When the kingdoms in war with the Blue kingdom surrender Ryuunosuke sees no need for Yuki or the child and casts them aside.
Yuki has the child and places a curse on him that when he gains his ninth tail that he will take the light out of the three kingdoms once at war. Getting over her hate for the child she protects her son from Ryuunosuke when he comes to take the child back. Before she does she places an even worse curse on the child that will befall the world when the child loses the person he loves. Just as she wanted to take revenge when her mother died.
The adventure begins when the child, Viyuri, awakens two thousand years later.
