Clara had been told all her life that she was the daughter of a mistress to a very wealthy family. The man that was supposed to be her father never treated her kindly and with the upmost disgust. If he had his way, she and her mother would have been out on the streets to fend for themselves, but her father's wife would have none of that. It was by the wife's glorious grace that kept the both of them off the street.
Now Clara was twenty-four years old and have been away from the family for years now, but still went back every so often as they were the only family she had known most of her life. She wanted to also keep them in the dark thinking she was someone who couldn't survive without them.
Little do they know, she would have cut ties with them if it hadn't been for the wife and matriarch of the family. The wife had been the one that was always so kind and supportive of Clara. Clara had always seen her as a true mother willingly to love the daughter of a mistress and her husband. The wife always gave her strength when she lived with the family and Clara admired the woman.
What will happen when Clara's family finds out who she has become without them knowing? All but the matriarch have always looked down on Clara, but they don't know that she built herself up to being more than she seems. She's far more than she seems. She may dress for them like someone struggling, but she stopped struggling years ago.
