Stories of Captain Hongjoong and his crew of misfits have been circling the Aithelon kingdom for years - stories of violence, mischief, thievery, destruction - inciting fear, or sometimes curiosity, within the citizens.
Twenty-four year old Ari Rothchester is part of the latter group, intrigued by the adventures Hongjoong and his crew embark on, wishing wholeheartedly she had that kind of freedom.
Instead, she is betrothed to an older man as the final act of her parents hiding her very existence. But when her soon-to-be husband sets his sights on her younger sister, Evelyn, Ari unleashes magic she has kept hidden most of her life.
Now deemed a dangerous enemy to the crown, Ari escapes the confines of the castle walls and runs directly into the notorious pirate captain's path. Quickly, Ari will learn if she was right to be intrigued by this band of pirates or if she should have learned to fear them instead.
