When Cleo was born, her mother vanished into the night. Cleo was found by Talia Hale. She knew the baby was Peter's daughter and that he would take care of her. When Peter found out he was thrilled to be a father. They noticed she was quite different from the rest of the family, but they never treated her differently.

At the age of 10, Cleo knew something bad was going to happen. She could sense it. She tried to warn her aunt, but Talia already knew something was wrong. She told Cleo to go to her room and get some rest.

That night Cleo woke up hearing the screams from her entire family. She had sensed, death. She quickly got up from her bed and opened her door. The flames were high and surrounded her door. She grabbed her blanket from her bed and ran through the flames. Cleo could hear her father screaming from the pain on the side of his face. Trying to make his way to his daughter's room to save her, but she saved him from collapsing into the fire. She quickly found her way out of the house, but then her father collapsed on the front lawn. She crawled over to him holding back her tears. His last words to her before he went into an unconscious state "You're just like your mother" a tear fell from his eyes and then he closed them. Leaving his daughter crying, hugging him and pleading for him to stay.

Later that day in the hospital Nurse McCall confirmed that her father was in a coma. Her cousin Laura became the new alpha after her mother's passing. Laura, Derek, and Cleo went on their way to New York, to start a new life.

After six years had past, Cleo was a changed person. She had difficulties sleeping. She would have nightmares of Laura getting killed. She would wake up screaming. Derek would run into her room to comfort her. When her breathing was steady, she would look into his eyes. "I've sensed her death in Beacon Hills, and your not going to like it". With that they made their way home, to look for Laura's other half.
