Reflections are always deceiving.
Evelyn Villier is not known for her soft beauty or manners, called Winter by most for a good reason. Stubborn, shrewd, and too curious for her own good, she is constantly overshadowed by her kind, perfect siblings. Until it all changes when misfortune befalls the entire family.
Starting with the ruin of their finances and good name, a series of quite unfortunate events is set in motion until Evelyn is left alone and indebted to a mysterious, dangerous monster. Imprisoned in a rotting castle away from all people, and embroiled in a mystery concerning a strange mirror, Evelyn finds that there is much more to beauty than she knows.
