The northernmost corner of Pyrrhia, the head of the dragon... the rigid, rule-bound IceWings in their cold kingdom. They've long lost their last animus dragon, and the magic has been presumed dead in IceWing lineage for more moons than many remember.

Diamond, the firsthatched IceWing princess, always dreamily observed the IceWing animus gifts. But she never dreamed that she'd actually BE an animus dragon. Then... she discovers her magic. Princess Diamond is the first animus dragon her tribe has had in centuries. Yet without living animi as an example, she fails to heed the dangers that could come with overuse of her magic.

They say diamonds are unbreakable. Yet the destruction of her soul may just be enough to shatter this Diamond.

𝙄𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙖𝙧, 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙣𝙨... Decades of wars and unrest have clawed at the sides of Pyrrhia's dragons for as long as they can remember, and the tales of true peace and dragonets of prophecy are simply whispers of the past. Shrike has never been regarded by his tribe as a real SkyWing. His mother fell ill and passed away when he was a dragonet, and his father, a royal SeaWing, was executed by his dictatorial queen as soon as it was found out that he'd had an affair with a common SkyWing. Still, Shrike remains tethered to the Queen and his tribe. Years of lost wars, unfulfilled treaties, and an excessively lavish lifestyle lived by their ruler, Queen Markhor, have left the SkyWing tribe impoverished and starving, and Shrike, the princess's personal bodyguard, has witnessed the consequences of the Queen's ignorance firsthand. A diplomacy meeting with the SeaWings gone wrong erupts in yet another bloody war, and Shrike is swept up in battle before finding himself caught in between the jaws of the political turmoil that seem to be tearing his tribe apart from the inside out. To make matters worse, a warning delivered years before by the continentally renowned prophet, Hereafter, is unraveling before Shrike's eyes, and its exhortations seem like an echo chamber awfully reminiscent of his own life. That coupled with a newfound power in his claws leaves him spiraling and wondering one question: could 𝘩𝘦 be the terror of talons? ✦ Please read the introductory pages! They will be EXTREMELY informative for understanding the basics of Pyrrhia's situation and the timeline leading up to this story. Consider leaving a vote if you enjoy this story! Constructive criticism and other comments are always welcome.

3 parts Complete

With permission from the RainWing queen, the NightWings have created a sub-kingdom deep in the jungle that now thrives as a successful city. However, trouble brews deep within the heart of the kingdom - not everyone is satisfied with the traditions that have been set in stone for generations. Follow the young NightWing princess Legacy through three pivotal moments in her life that may change the history of the NightWings forever. Designed as a prologue to my main story, this story is in three parts. Each part is a length of 1-2 chapters. Hope you enjoy reading! Wings of Fire belongs to Tui T. Sutherland and Scholastic.
