This book is about a world split between a utopia and a dystopia, a direct democracy vs. anarchy. The dystopian side of the world is in ruins, costant riots and fights take place here. To make matters worse, the paranormal seems to have seized this opportuinty, and have started to appear more and more all over the dystopian waste land, making it more dangerous then before. Reina Vyse is a 13 year old whose family is gone, they died in one of the many riots that happen in her city of Denver, a once brilliant place, now a degraded, ruined, goulish city. She is desperatly trying to survive and get to the promsied land, an almost imposible mission.

This is a story of a normal seventeen-year-old girl forced into a war between good and evil. At seven they separate her from her twin brother by a strange man and sent to live with her mother and grandmother. When she turns seventeen, she is haunted by dreams of the past and what the future will bring. Nothing she tries can ease these dreams until an arch angel comes to her rescue. The archangel named Gabriel explains why she has these dreams and why she must lead the fight against evil, but first she must confront her mother and grandmother. They turn her life upside when she finds out her family knew. A fight ensued, and she runs away and encounters the demons that wish to kill her. Gabriel rescues her, and the need to train her for a battle which her ancestors have fought for the side of good every one-hundred years. Throughout her ordeal she encounters creatures which want to kill her, and monster that accept her into their family. She finds love and comfort in the enemy's armies and fight her brother to save the world. Can she have the fortitude to save the world from total chaos, or does she save her love and allow the world to seep into darkness?

They have a conscious mind though, but their craving for brains is a bit of an antisocial issue. Being mostly made up of impoverished individuals, it is not surprised that they got cured cheaply and lastly, despite being the main test subjects. Lochlyn is their representative. She just wanted an education beyond elementary school. A little luckier stricken part of the infected population evolved into reverents. Reverants have a feudal system over the zombies to "keep them in order". The luck may have had to do with them being upper-class when being treated. Basilica is their representative. At eighteen, she wanted body modifications, a job, and etc... as a rite of passage entering adulthood. At least that's what she was thinking. The more she was told no, the more she wondered what she could do. There are still uninfected humans left in the U.S.A. Most of them are middle-class. Katrina is their representative. She gained a family member, but lost two. She aches to find out why she can never return home again. The three eighteen-year-old females, along with their beaus, journey for truth, equality, justice, restoration, love, and freedom lead them to the same end: the capital. It was a cheat or heroine halo that the damn gamemakers made because the setting was 'after 500 years of peace from the bloody and horrific war against the corrupted ones, there in the shadows, they grow stronger and will once again rise to endanger the empires again, the girl will be the key to the survival of all.. etc, etc' So the heroine will train and capture hearts along the way to save the world sigh~ how annoying. Sakura became the princess who grew jealous and ended up being corrupted and was a stepping stone for her sister. Follow Sakura as she break through the "game" and changes her fate. She may even discover that her being Sakura wasn't a simple transmigrate or reincarnation like she thought.

Nance doesn't know why, but it doesn't matter, because she's sixteen and it's her turn to be marked. **So I decided to replace the original story with the rewrite because they are pretty much exactly the same.
