In the year 2110, technology has advanced drastically.  Of course, there are both pros, and the cons to that.  One of the many pros though, is something that can help spare the risk and feeling of heartbreak  "forever."   When every new child is born, they are given a necklace with a charm of half a shape, or half of some kind of object.    Arielle Carter was born, and given a necklace with a charm of half a heart.  As she grows up, she will move on through many journeys, one of them being finding her soulmate.   The necklace she was given at birth is crucial to this journey, since the closer you get to your soulmate, the warmer the charm gets.   This all seems like a perfect plan to Arielle, what could be easier than having technology tell you when you find your perfect match?  Her idea of perfect is crushed when she finds out the twist.
