When Fear Takes Hold
A new, deadly disease is spreading, and although necessary precautions are put in place, the nations don't show much concern. That is, until it's revealed they aren't immune to it either. A special quarantine is organized for the nations who have fallen ill as researchers around the world attempt to find a cure. Those trapped inside the quarantine suffer from pain, loss, and even madness as they are reduced to that of mere humans. This brings light to them as they realize what it is like to be mortal. And they are terrified. Buried memories resurface and unspoken truths are told. Deletion of 1940 America: Subtraction in World War II
An alternate scenario of World War II. Typically, these stories involve adding elements, such as equipping Japan with modern technology or granting them knowledge from the future. But that approach feels too conventional, so I tried subtracting instead. I decided to remove the enormous factor that is the United States of America. The result was an entirely different history.
