The nations are sick of it, they're sick and tired of watching humans rule over them, use them as pets to destroy the world. Everyone has a breaking point, and the nations have long since bypassed it. They took matters into their own hands. What does the world become? Is the clown the fool of the story, or are you? After all, the clown knows it's an act, but the audience is so lost in it that they tend to forget. Alfred had lived a long life. He'd learned a lot in it. That England was easy to gaslight if you knew what you were doing. France would back away from any show of force. Germany could ignore a bumbling idiot even as the evidence piled up just because he wasn't very good with people. Poland saw everything and read people like a book. Prussia would keep his mouth shut if you gave him enough liquor or made him obedient. Russia would turn a blind eye if you turned one to him. China never trusted anyone even if there was evidence of the contrary. The United States got power hungry after World War 1, so they began to devise a plan to keep gaining more control, not cluing the President in. The government descended into oppression for centuries, putting more control on the people, arrests for no reason, and checkpoints, like a living prison. People have to hide who they truly are.
