Quattuor is a civilization based entirely on rankings.
It is believed there that everyone has an inner power or form of sorts, some more than others; but it takes time, effort, and commitment to unlock these levels of power and being.
Ember was originally an orphan from a civilization near Rooshia; swept away by a crowd of refugees evacuating to Rooshia just moment's after her parents death.
Now she earns her keep at a restaurant in a small village along with a number of other orphans. Ember had always seen life in Rooshia as something that she was forced into but always had to work for; 'Work to not succeed; just exist'. She never had big plans until another orphan, Brooke, decided she was going to go to an academy made especially to unlock the levels of one's power and being.
In a blink of an eye Ember and the other orphans are once again swept into a world much different form the one they had all known for most of their lives.
Soon defending Rooshia and unlocking levels of herself she never knew existed becomes more and more enchanting to Ember as she struggles to find her way through the prestigious Being Academy.
