Sometimes things happen and there's nothing you can do about it. You feel powerless. You feel alone. You feel lost. But sometimes...all you need is that one person to find you again.

Insignificant, is something that is not important. Not in life and nor anything else. That's me, that is who I am. It isn't because I have been deprived or bullied, oh no- this is the fate I chose to be, this is what I have come to terms with. With no family by my side to love and support me, I live alone. This is the insignificant of my life.

Kaede is a loner who lives with his drunk abusive father and good for nothing mother. He is bullied by others but when people come into his life, does it help him or is it his undoing??

It's Missing Things, the story of Carl, a tech worker making his way through a post-pandemic office. It's a story about loss and nostalgia. It's about never being able to go back to a time you can still remember. It's about lost connections. But it's also about moving forward. About the impermanence of life. I tried to tie in the concepts of hiraeth and mono no aware into this, but who knows if I'm skilled enough as a writer. The aim of this piece isn't so much to tell a story but to convey the feeling of an Edward Hopper painting. To make the reader feel the way one does when one is alone and disconnected. It's an existential shit show, is what I'm saying.

I will keep this version up just because I know I worked hard on it and it'd be rude to my younger self to delete it...but I highly recommend the newer one.
