There are probably a few factors that contribute to a person's social standing in the teenage world. On the top of the list, would be attractiveness. Then, athletic capability, and then all the way down until you reach the most specific bits, like the amount of frizz in their hair, or even the way they stand on the train. Nothing is left alone; everything is taken apart and analyzed.
So, when you're a quiet girl who works in an old, musty tea store in the middle of a desolate alley, you can be sure that you're not ticked off for a single one of those boxes.
