Growing up in the dystopian country of Altheria, seventeen-year-old Zaylee Embers finally turns into an adult on her eighteenth birthday. But, turning into an adult in Altheria doesn't mean freedom, it means the exact opposite. 
    For years she has grown up in the Cobalt side of Altheria - that is where everything she knows is, her family, friends, and life. But as soon as her Placement is chosen, she is devastated. 
  It is the government's way of keeping the people of Altheria from going into chaos. 
    But, she starts to figure out lies in the system one by one with the help of Arlow, a pure breed Jade. They come up with a plan to rebel and to recruit people. They become The Colorless.

    How will Zaylee Embers ever survive the land she once knew as great? Will they be able to escape this place before all hell breaks lose? And most of all, how will she prevent herself from falling in love with a Jade?
