This is a book of poems that I have written over the last 7 or 8 years. I am a 20 year old female that has been in and out of foster homes for the first 4 years of my life. I was taken by the DHS from my mom when I was 18 months old because she couldn't take care of me and was into a lot of different drugs. I was raped by my foster brother and some of his friends between the ages of 3 and 5. And many other things happened in the foster home that scarred me. So yes I have a lot of trauma, and you will be able to see it in my writings. Most of this book contains poems that I have written myself and then there are a couple more or less rants as a way to express myself as a writer. I find poetry very cathartic and therapeutic. I found out that I was good at poetry when I was only 6. But sadly most of those poems are lost. I really started saving and keeping track of my poems when I turned 12 because I was diagnosed with bipolar depression stage 1. That's when I realised that poetry wasn't just something I did or just a way to write. For me it was a part of me, it was a way to express myself when no one would listen. Even more than that it was a creative way to express the deep dark secrets that I had been hiding about my trauma and all the things that happened to me at a very young age.
