Starling is a powerful coven,or at least it used to be.Over time their powers faded and without powers they die.
Jason feeds off of the lives of others to gain power and the rest of the family feeds off of him.
When Jason tries to strip Madison of her powers,she does what she has to do in order to survive.
Without him,the only family from the starling coven will die but the only way to bring him back is by ripping Madisons heart out.
