Inside the Walls
Pale is just another girl in her village. Her village is surrounded by a large stone wall to keep everyone inside safe. However, when one of the stones near the bottom of the wall deteriorates, Pale finds out that there are other villages on the other side of the wall and, actually, her village is just one of hundreds of villages within the walls. There once was a prince, who fell in love with a girl. But she wasn't a princess. She was the hand maiden of a nobleman's daughter, who had eyes for the young prince. The prince and girl fell in love, but couldn't be together, for the nobleman's daughter grew jealous when she found out, and ordered them to be killed. This story was called "The Lover's Curse." As it passed down, generation through generation, it became known as only a legend, a myth.
