Jake, his cousins, and his best friend, Jen, get their lives turned upside down when Tabitha, Jen's cat, transports them to a land full of magic, and monsters; Narabithia. Being the sons and daughter of legacy and the valiant Heirs of a chilling prophecy, they must learn to cope with the mysteries of Eden, the planet on which Narabithia lies, while training to be the heroes that they are destined to become, but there are forces that will hinder them from prevailing. Their path to triumph will prove to be even more unruly with the trials these four unlikely teenagers have to endure; as their friendship, faith and trust is put to the test.

This is the first book of The Narabithian Chronicles, a trilogy exploring five teens friendship and faith as they walk down the narrow path that leads them to their destiny as Heirs of Narabithia, and saviors of Eden.
