I swallowed, this was hard. "I'm not shallow." I wiped my clammy palms hard against the sides of my Roberto Cavalli jeans, trying to get the words out in a way he would understand. "This is all my hard work Jonathan. I can't-"

"Can't give it up for me. I understand," he finished about to walk away when i grabbed him by the hand.

He shrugged me off. "Which is more important, your popularity or your happiness?"

Othelia Jackson abandoned everything she ever believed in when she agreed to join the freshman popular clique, three years ago in a smelly, high school bathroom. But her best - no - ex best friend Summer won't let her forget that, even if it means destroying Othelia and everything she worked so hard to get. When Jonathan Santiago, returned to Forrest Hills Academy, six years after he left, praying his bad reputation left with him, he realised quickly that this was not the case when his childhood friend Othelia wanted nothing to do with him. Will he win the fight to get back the girl he has always loved, or will she allow her popularity, the only thing that was really hers to stand in the way?

It's not until one day, he offers her help on her homework that she realizes they go to the same school. Isn't she smart? Tyler, excited as can be, hopes their store relationship will carry over to school, but will it? And why does she really talk to him at the t-shirt shop? What's her backstory? And the biggest question is, does Katie even like Tyler?

... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!
