As light hearted as the Super Mario franchise is, have you ever wondered what happens when Mario, Luigi, or any character for that matter loses their last life?
Well I'm sure that many people have put that thought aside and just assume that the Mario world just Restarts, but I believe it to be a legitimate question.
Here is my interpretation of my idea in the form of a story. It may seem dark, but then again everything I think, write, and act is no lighter than pitch black.
For those who have read this far, good job. You must be either curious, or just bored out of your freaking mind. For those who have already passed up this opportunity, you really should have more curiosity. Nobody gets through life without it. With that being said, let's delve into what I think happens to those of the Mushroom Kingdom when their life counter hits zero.

But, there hasn't been a one spotted since the Pixl Queen. Ones are seen as dangerous because of their potential and are to be killed at birth to prevent future tragedies. Not that many had been born. In fact, it's extremely rare to get any numbers below ten. A young Blumiere lives in a dark tribe in this dark world. Labeled as a number six, he is the most powerful being born as far as everyone knows. But what happens when he finds himself in the presence of a One? A tale about friendship. About finding light and love in a world where that doesn't seem apparent. About lasting bonds and about broken bridges. Join us, as One shines a flashlight into the darkness. Follow Blumiere as he follows One in his quest to bring back the sun. AN: For once, this is NOT a ship story. I want to be clear, it is NOT a BlumierexOne story in any way. It is purely a story about friendship and the bond between two children. This story takes place before SPM. It's an alternate Universe where things used to be a lot darker, so it's by no means canon to either game. The universe is heavily based on Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares 2, however, though some names are the same, none of those characters from that game are in this. Rise of the Nightmares
Sequel to "The Power of Dreams" NOTE: This is a rewritten version of the third part of my first fan fiction series on my DeviantART page. I thought I'd also post the rewritten version here on Wattpad to share it with more interested readers. Plot: Mario has always fought King Bowser and his goons. No matter how dangerous the situation is, Mario will always trek through even the toughest lands to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser's grasp. Sonic has always fought Dr. Eggman and his robots. Going all around the world, and no matter how disastrous Eggman's plans are towards the world, Sonic, along with his friends, will fight till the end. Kate has no recollection of fighting in her forgotten past. Though after meeting Mario and Sonic, she found herself caught in their battles against Bowser and Eggman. But her powers may be for another threat. The three friends may have understood what Kate's power is. The Power of Dreams. But it seems that there was another reason why Kate had to understand her powers. A reason why she forgot her past and why she has her powers. A reason why she was brought to Mario and Sonic's world. A reason that endangered her, and has now put Mario, Sonic, and their friends into danger as well. And it's not like Bowser, Eggman, or any of their schemes. This threat is difficult to identify, when the only clues lie in nightmares that Kate is having. This is the point of discovery in the tale of Mario, Sonic, and Kate. This is the dark twist in the Tale of the Tale of the Three Heroes.Complete
