Before I had the chance to slip out of his loose grip, his right arm wrapped around my waist and he tugged me towards himself. His body emitting the familiar warmth I had grown to crave these days. I could feel his frantic heartbeat under the palm of my hands and the quick pulses of my own heart buzzing uncontrollably in my ears. I kept my head lowered as my mind replayed the promise I had made to myself - 'No matter, what he does, no matter what he says, do not look up into his eyes'. I squeezed my eyes shut in the hope that it would help me stay true to my promise but my fight against my heart was short-lived as I felt his fingers lifting up my chin so our eyes could engage themselves in a silent conversation. I would be lying if I said I wasn't surprised when I looked up into his eyes. I had envisioned them to be filled with rage, fury. Yet, what I saw in them was far worse.

I had hurt him like I had been hurt years ago.

Highest rank #27 in Teen Fiction. Written by @apricitys. _ _ _ "What is this?" He asked, not even bothering to look at the canvas in front of me. Instead, his eyes were locked in mine. I swallowed my saliva, chills running down my spine. I felt my palms getting sweaty as my legs nervously started bouncing up and down. Without giving me time to answer, he took a step closer to me, eyes still locked in mine. Each time he inched closer, I used my right foot to slowly push myself and the stool back. It seemed to be the only option to get away from him; until he forced his hands below the sides of my thighs, holding the stool in place. He released a soft chuckle as he eyed me from my eyes, down to my lips. "You're beautiful," he said. From his voice, I couldn't tell if he was being serious, or messing around. It sounded sincere, however there was a smirk on his face. The smirk that he always has on his face when he's found an amusing target. Then he averted his attentions back to my eyes. His expressions softened up the moment his eyes landed back on mine. His smirk disappeared. I cleared my throat and broke the eye contact. I looked down at my palms as I rubbed the sweat against my jeans, "What do you want, Landon?" I asked, almost whispering. I felt his hand brushing against my right cheek, as he tilts my chin up to look back at him. His messy brown hair, his light blue eyes and his pink soft lips were just centimeters from mine. I felt his breath lingering on the upper tip of my lip. In a panic, I pressed my palms against his chest and push him off. He stumbled back with a surprised look on his face. "Aubrey." _ _ _ Landon Carthy is an arrogant boy, who knowns to have absolutely no care in the world. Making girls suffer feels great to him. I yelled but before I could breathe in I was pinned to the wall. I gasped. Staring into his dark blue eyes made every bone of my body weak. He smirked, knowing exactly what he did. "You got too comfortable with me, doll but I didn't show you what Ace can really do." He mumbled. He broke the eye contact we were having and leaned closer to my neck. My heart beat was racing his and each breath he took sent electricity all over my body. I bit my tongue, scared of what my brain could make me say. "And I don't think you want to know," he whispered so close to my ear sending shivers down my spine. I took a deep breath, trying to collect my thoughts. He moved back to stare into my eyes, wanting to see his effect on me but I didn't give it to him. I smirked, pushed my chin down and looked up at him. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Oh, so you're the spice master now? Is that your new superpower?" He smiled, leaning closer. "Among other things, yes. But my primary superpower is making you smile." My lips curved involuntarily, fighting against the urge to smile. Cheeky bastard. "Alright, enough with the smooth talk. Your lines are sounding straight out of a 90s movie," I remarked, trying to suppress a chuckle. He chuckled, his smile unapologetic. "Well, you know what they say, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Classic lines never go out of style." I rolled my eyes, unable to hold back a laugh. "Oh, spare me the vintage charm, Mr. Smooth Operator. We're in the 21st century now." He leaned in a much closer with a mock-serious expression. "Ah, but you can't deny that a little old-school flair adds a touch of magic to modern times." I couldn't resist bursting into laughter, shaking my head at his stubborn attitude. "Fine, you win this round. But don't expect me to swoon like a 90s heroine." He shrugged. "No promises needed. Your smile says it all." "Oh, god," I exclaimed, pushing him as I got up and sat with my knees folded. He toppled over onto his back, laughing wholeheartedly as he did so. A smile crept onto my face. The feeling was overwhelming - how much I loved this guy. It was a love that could be painful, but in the best way possible. Who would have thought that I, of all people, would be constructing sentences and waxing poetic about love? But here I was, head over heels. "You're a handful, you know?" I told him. Maybe this is what all those couples in love were always going on about-the magic of spending quality time together. He let out a snicker. "Ah, and this is where I'm supposed to say, 'That's why you love me, right?'

I used to think I was living the life people only dream about. Everything looked perfect on the outside - the smiles, the success, the routine that gave me comfort. I had the freedom, the admiration, and the illusion of happiness. I truly believed that this was it - the life I had worked so hard to build, the one everyone else wished they had. But then he came into my world - unexpected and uninvited, like a storm that doesn't ask permission before it breaks everything in its path. He was unlike anyone I had ever met. A man cloaked in mystery, always quiet, always observing, like he carried the weight of a thousand secrets. People knew his name, admired him from a distance, but no one really knew him. And he liked it that way. He wasn't kind in the way the world expects. He wasn't soft or gentle. He didn't chase approval, and he didn't waste time pretending. His world was cold and guarded - his heart only opening for the few he truly cared about: his family, and the rare souls he dared to love. And yet, somehow, I was drawn to him. Not just to his mystery, but to the way he made me feel - like I was no longer the polished, perfect version of myself I had grown so used to pretending to be. Around him, the mask I wore for years slowly cracked. I started seeing pieces of myself I didn't know existed. He turned my world upside down. He didn't just make me feel - he made me question everything. Who I was. What I wanted. Who I was pretending to be. I became someone I no longer recognized - not the girl with the perfect life, but someone raw, confused, aching for something real. He didn't just enter my life. He changed it. He changed me.
