Post Plague Kidnapping - Published!
It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. The Neighborhood
Aldara is your average orphan who never got adopted. She goes to school, goes back to the orphanage, all is good. Especially with the help of her only friend, Qilin. But everyday, as they walk to the nearby school, they pass by this metal fence, and on the other side is a neighborhood that seems to be around for about 100 years. Not to mention that there is an urban legend going around, that once you enter the neighborhood, you can never get out. Also that the neighborhood is filled with freaks, bad people. He pauses, I guess hoping for some sort of mercy in my eyes, "I didn't kill her." "Liar!" I shout. "Why won't you believe me?!" "Would you believe yourself?" "It wasn't me who shot her," he sits on a stool, resting his elbows on his knees. "Then how do you know she was shot?" "I saw it. I saw him kill her," his voice was riddled with such pure vulnerability and pain it begged me to believe him. "Who?" I try to sound sympathetic, but it comes out as scared.
