There is journal that keeps all of her secrets. Actually let's  rephrase that, there is a journal that keeps everyone's secrets. Not hers. Linda listen to people, she didn't ask them to tell her anything though. She had no choice, she was mute. Hence the nickname was born "Listen Linda." A statement started from a cute three year boy online now taunts her.  She knows she'll hear something she'll regret. She knows that people will take advantage. She knows that one slip up and she is a goner. 

All of that is just to bad, because all Linda does is listen. Now that Dayfield High's most beloved quarterback has gone missing, Linda has to put the pieces together to find out what happened. If she doesn't she might end up going missing herself. Because everyone knows that people who listen, know it all. So people could blame her.
