Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesis centers around Yuven Tatsuya, a 19-year old Duelist who lost his memories after an incident he unknowingly caused. But one Duel leads him on a journey more deeper than he thinks, forcing him to make decisions that can impact himself and his friends. The story's main theme is "What you do can change anything."

The story is set in Prism City, a futuristic city rebuilt after the Primordial Purge, a battle that involved mythical dragons called the Primordial Dragons.
