Nostalgia can become the best of anyone when all you can think about is getting back home to Earth while floating aimlessly within the relentless grasp of space and time itself-- the only company the constant tug of gravity and a scared, dying crew ready to kill anything that steps out of line.
Castiel finds himself being the captain of this newly marooned crew lost in a wormhole that suddenly appeared in mid-course to the outer planets. This wormhole, though, didn't quite act as it was supposed to like in the theories back home: it hasn't collapsed or seemed to have become unstable at all, save for the opening and exit disappearing the moment they accidentally slipped into it.
All connection they had to Earth, most power, and control is completely lost the moment they enter this anomaly, except for the life support on board-- and even that is dwindling away quickly for the six others aboard Ptolemy 19.
Trapped, lost, and dying. Yes, that describes this crew's situation perfectly.
