In the future, mankind’s ancient nocturnal enemy, long dismissed as myth, has revealed itself. Harnessing the nascent technology of space travel, they have escaped the scourge of sunlight and rule unopposed from the eternal night of space. Together, the two species plan to journey to the stars and, inside a ramshackle ship built with 20th Century technology, Helena guides her human passengers – both crew and cargo – to settle Earth’s first extrasolar colony. 'Terminator' is a hard science-fiction story that combines the harsh practicalities of near future space travel and xenobiology with gothic fantasy as it envisages a world in which humans live alongside the so-called Aristocracy of the Void. Two species, one immortal and selfish, the other limited but capable of looking beyond their immediate needs, must find their commonalities to conquer deep space - or die trying - as the light of two suns washes over an alien world.
