Shadows lurk and shadows hide. Shadows stalk and shadows cause chaos. Shadows are to be feared, shadows are what keeps you awake at night. Shadows hide under the bed, shadows plague your dreams.
They first appeared when our parents told us stories as children, at the time we had been terrified, childish naivety clouding our mind. It made us see things that weren't there, then we grew up. Yet there is always that naivety in the back of our minds, and what if we weren't seeing things? What if the shadows are real?

I'm so afraid. I haven't been able to sleep for some time now. They keep me awake. Every night they come from out the shadows and speak to me. Every night I can hear their laughter, their whispers. The shadows on the walls twist and churn as what lurks within them moves. Every so often I catch a glimpse of one of their too-wide smiles. The things they say to me are unspeakable. It is so wondrous. They fill my head with things I never thought possible. As I lay awake in bed at night, listening to them, I am afraid to hear them. Suddenly you hear footsteps walking closer to your bed and suddenly you can feel their warm breath in the back of your neck. You would hide under the covers hoping that you just imagine it, but then a hand brush against the covers. A scream escape your lips and you would wake up from the nightmare. Ghost only exist in movies and your nightmares right? Well you're wrong they do exist. You just can't see them, but I can.
