Tsukineko Kazue is moving to Japan! Her new stepfather's job is transferring him there. It's not the different language or the jet lag that'll give her issues. Kazue has known Japanese all her life and she's travelled on several planes. She doesn't want to leave behind her town, or her friends. And even though her mother was born in Japan, she's not familiar with most of her age group's customs. When she gets there during the summer, Kazue is so nervous about fitting in that she wishes for the courage to just be herself. She gets more than she bargained for when she discovers two eggs the next morning, which soon give birth to a couple of crazy charas! When school starts, Kazue makes friends with a group of kids called the "Guardians" and a pair of dark siblings who each have a chara (or two…or four) of their own. Kazue is just starting to get used to these new things in her life when they discover they're not the only ones interested in charas…and the other group isn't exactly friendly.
